Apr 16 - Our First Egg Hunt

today, daddy and mommy and i went to our the first egg hunt ever in any of our entire lives.  here is my report.

we went to the Krumperman Family's Eighth Annual Egg Hunt hosted at the Kaps (more and larger lawns). every family dropped off a dozen eggs per child the night before the egg hunt.  they had 1,163 eggs dispersed across four lawns.

the event started with all 100 children and adults performing the traditional Hokey Pokey. then the rules were given. 1) you touch an egg, its your egg. 2) no hunting other children's baskets. 3) 11 eggs per child only.

the under 4's were sent to the three front lawns while the 4 to 7's were sent to the largest backyard lawn. moments later the 7+'s were sent to the back lawn also which had the best hiding places. once you hit 11 eggs, you return to the driveway to wait for the re-hunt.

and, we are off. i see a blue easter egg and run with daddy to pick it up and put it in my basket.  then, (passing by several orange, pink, yellow and green eggs), i find another another blue egg. finally, daddy and i return to the driveway with, yes, 11 blue easter eggs. (most comments center around, "wow, blue really is her favorite color".)

then, the re-hunt is announced. anyone who still wants to can hunt for 5 more eggs only. we are off to the center tree. yay, two blue eggs in the cradle of the trunk. only three more to go. no one in the crowds can find any eggs. daddy and momma sneak over to the corner hedge (wait for me) and yes, the eggs have fallen just below the leaves. two more eggs. (not blue, but eggs nonetheless). momma and i race to the backyard and brush through purple landcover plants to find our last, green catepillar egg. we return to daddy who grabbed another family with one little girl and continued to brush through the corner hedge to find 3 more eggs.

everyone had a good time and no one was disappointed.

Scenes from the event:

hah, look daddy more eggs.

daady these eggs aren't blue.  we need to find blue eggs.

this was really fun. i'm going back to that house to hunt for more eggs.
